Over 20 years ago, Lani McCollar decided to leave behind a corporate career and pursue one in fundraising after a life-changing home-building mission trip to a remote part of Tijuana, Mexico—and she has never looked back. To Lani, making a difference in people’s lives is what life is all about and working with her nonprofit clients fulfills that personal mission.
Lani brings close to 25 years of philanthropy leadership. At BWF, Lani focuses on applying the firm’s national and global expertise to local organizations and foundations, providing them with philanthropic counsel on major giving growth and overall health of advancement programs, board engagement, campaign feasibility or planning studies, ongoing campaign counsel, assessments (board, mid-campaign, development), and philanthropic strategic planning.
Lani is recognized as a national thought leader and for the past four years has been working to elevate the awareness, understanding, coaching, and training needed for fundraising professionals and their organizations when stewarding donors with either diagnosed and/or suspected cognitive impairment, namely dementia.
Faith, family, and friends are Lani’s most ardent passions, along with the culture, cuisine, and dancing of her Greek heritage. She also enjoys entertaining, gardening, piano playing, yoga, traveling, and golf.
